Timothy Betts, Assistant Professor, Texas Christian University
I am Timothy Betts (PhD, University of South Florida), an assistant professor researching organizing and organizational communication and teaching at Texas Christian University. Welcome to my website, which offers an overview of my research, teaching, and other pursuits!
My Work
Generally, my research examines economic contexts and phenomena using a combination of communication, organization, and economic theory. I study the economy as social process: communicatively constructed, narratively maintained. I also have broader research interests in post-structural research methods and their relation to communication theory building.
Right now, I am working on various projects related to organizing economic resilience, resistance, and change. As part of this work, my dissertation research examines how individuals organize around economic crises such as the Great Depression and the Great Recession.
In addition to my scholarly pursuits, I am a huge fan of theatre, computers, good fiction, and diet coke.
